Virat Kohli: Why did Virat Kohli leave the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore ie RCB? Virat Kohli himself has given the answer to this question. While interacting with the RCB women’s team on Wednesday, Virat Kohli revealed why he resigned from the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Virat said in front of the RCB women’s team and the entire team management that when my captaincy phase was coming to an end, I had no faith in myself at all. To be very honest, my tank was completely empty. But that was my own thought, all those things I was just telling myself that I have seen too much, I can’t manage and handle it anymore.
Virat gave an emotional speech
Virat Kohli single-handedly took RCB to the finals in IPL 2016, but his next three seasons were very bad. Many times the RCB team also remained at the bottom of the points table. However, in IPL 2020, RCB managed to reach the playoffs and after that, in the next two seasons, RCB went to the playoffs and qualifiers stage.
Virat left the captaincy after the 2021 season. After that, the responsibility of captaincy in IPL 2022 was given to South African player Faf du Plessis and he took the team to Qualifier-2. Talking about it, Virat said that after leaving the captaincy, new people came in the next season, they had new ideas, so there was a new opportunity. Those guys were very excited, but I probably wasn’t that excited personally, but they fueled me and we made it to the playoffs three years in a row.
Kohli further said that, now we start each season with a new enthusiasm, which used to be earlier and I also feel very excited now. So it is everyone’s responsibility that if someone in the team is feeling bad then others should boost his morale.
